Bavarian thaler question
For a (Catholic) Christening gift, I am planning to take a Bavarian 1 thaler coin featuring madonna and child and make it into a necklace. Does anyone know the diameter (in millimeters) for the coin, so that I know what bezel to buy? Is it the same as the more famous Maria Theresa thaler? Or as the silver dollar (which is derived from the thaler?)

Re: Bavarian thaler question
I have a 1783 Madonna and Child Bavarian silver coin. It doesn't say "Thaler" on it, but but I asume it is one.
It is 41 mm . |
Re: Bavarian thaler question
I wish I could help, but I sold my thalers a few years ago. If possible, get an adjustable bezel. Surely someone else on GIM has an answer.

Re: Bavarian thaler question
Here's a link for a great selection of reasonably priced bezels.
I have no connection with this business or anyone associated with it, but have purchased bezels from them & experienced good service and good products. If you have a question about size I would contact and ask them. http://www.flintski.com/coin_bezels.htm |
Re: Bavarian thaler question
Most coin dealers have silver bezels, one could be cut to size if needed
